Having paid his dues on the music scene with over two decades of singing, Tonneil Avo popularly known as The Singing Preacher, has carve a niche for himself, a multi facet international gospel artist, a songwriter, producer, multi instrumentalist, sound engineer, music director, counselor and a preacher.
Award wining Chukwuemeka Kpadobi also called Tonneil Avo is a music minister with a dual nationality. His mother is a Cameroonian and father a Nigerian. He has bags numerous awards to his credit. For outstanding contributions to the gospel program in Nigeria through excellence in gospel music, Best creative music artist in the area of reggae in the year 2007, Award of excellence in leadership and human capacity development 2011, Church of Nigeria Anglican communion a merit award, friend of the youth 2016, Face of arise Africa awards as gospel music personality in contribution towards development of the society 2017, Southern youth wing Christian association of Nigeria as peace ambassador for his support and contribution in peace promotion in Nigerian society 2017, Doxa music festival awards 2017 for creative and inspiration ability in the gospel music industry just to mention a few.
Tonneil Avo is known for his reggae groove with an Africa-rock@gfusion style. He has four albums and some singles to his credit # Gold from fire # Testimonies # The 6th Verse # Sweet Sacrifice, sermon 1835(single), salvation is Free. He’s married to Chigozie Sylvia Avo and they have five children. In few words, Tonneil Avo is an artist that has performed on both sides of the platforms for over two decades with a wealth of experience over the years.
He added that he chose reggae music because it’s all encompassing: “In reggae, you will find rock, soul, bebop, jazz, country, highlife, hiplife, hip pop, R&B etc.
It ticks like the human heart and it carries a high level of spirituality with a freedom effect. Be it political, social, religious or spiritual, reggae music heals and it’s highly spiritual with a unifying force in bringing people together beyond their differences. It’s a perfect code to download eternity to time. Therefore, Reggae music is my code but Jesus remains my focus.”
Most of his experience was garnered from performing on the same platform with the likes of Majek Fashek, Felade, late Ras Kimono, Alex O., Mike Okri, Daniel Wilson, Onyeka Onwenu, Late Sir Warrior, Late Oliver de Quoque to mention but a few. He has also ministered along side Don Moen, Panam Percy Paul, Sammy Okposo, Sinach, Bob fits, Frank Edwards, Buchi, Samsong, Joe Praise, E Ben, Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwe, Preye Odede, Chioma Jesus, Freke Umoh etc.
However, Tonneil’s desire for excellence, peace, progress, equity, justice, love and a crave to see God glorified in our human society has always been his propelling force……

Imo state born musician, Tonneil speaks on his new released song, “Salvation is Free”, saying that “The song explains a lot. God took our place and paid a price we could not pay, while we were yet his enemy. What an amazing Grace. Salvation is free, but someone paid for it. Oxygen is free but someone paid for it. In my daily life as I meditate over these things, I hear more than a thousand songs from the other side of life.” he added.
